Awkward Portal was an auction by and for our beloved local art community space, Public Space One. In addition to contributing a painting to the auction, Mustard-In-Law made a special four-tape box set, named Awkward Portal.

At 6pm on August 16, 2016, we hit record on the video camera and proceeded to film a battery of prepared visual stations without stopping the recording until the 30 minute mark. At 9pm, we arrived at the Governor’s Mansion and set up our sound equipment facing a blank wall. Using the projector on the camera, we splashed the recording from earlier onto the wall. All of the sound was improvised live while watching the film. The audience gathered behind us, able to see both the projection and what we were doing with our hands.
Mustard-In-Law “Grey Poupon for Bing Bong” appears on the compilation “Pfff! Monument to The Noise” from Italian web-label, MAV Records. Besides being full of genuinely profound vaporized audio, the cool thing about this release is that it does have a special physical edition. There is a USB dead drop in Collegno, Italy, which houses the files, free to access by any passer-by.
The compilation can be heard and downloaded at:

Noise show at Gabe’s, Iowa City. Blue/Movies with Sino Thraw Mash, Joe Grove, and BOAR. I performed as Verdant Fog. The day of the show I recorded and constructed these two-minute tapes.
A collection of emerging artists displayed and sold their work at the Old Brick Church in Iowa City. In addition to showing off some of my latest acrylic paintings, I exhibited a selected discography of releases featuring my sounds and/or my album artwork: cassettes, cds, records, VHS tapes, DVDs, floppy disks.
A collection of tracks and collaborations by ARU.
Two tracks on this supernatural record are pieces I helped craft.
(“Unconventional Visage” & “Prepare Yourself for Europe”)
Released by CAPTCHA Records, available on CD, digital, and VINYL!
Also, I made videos for two tracks from this album…
This is my first ever vinyl recording!
Released in beautiful embossed jackets on randomly colored vinyl by Nutritional Content (AUS). It is a split 12 inch between Montreal’s Velvet Glacier and my solo project Abe Undent. I chose the name Abe Undent due to my method of creating the sounds; I am collaging the material from an abundant amount of my home recordings.
This record was mastered by DPRVTY, seen here admiring his work.
